LEGACY FIGHT CLUB
BAO “BAOY” LUU
A young ambitious kid who thought that he could take on the world
Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Martial Arts was the answer for me in developing a humbling confidence
Our humble beginnings started in August 2014 in Base Borden where instructor Bao was working as part of the Canadian Armed Forces. Because of complications, Bao decided to move his club of 2 members to Barrie, where he rented some mat space from a Tae Kwon Do gym in order to continue teaching classes.
Further complications saw Legacy moving yet another time after a few months! With the encouragement of members and the help of some dedicated teammates (2 of which are now instructors), slowly yet surely, business began to flourish. Legacy Fight Club finally decided in the late summer of 2015 to migrate to their very own location. The club continues to grow and develop members who are willing.
A typical muay thai class:
Skipping or jogging for warm-up. Individual body based exercises such as pushups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, burpees, etc. These exercises are done one after another to promote and develop cardiovascular strength.
Technical training. The emphasis here will be on proper form and posture while punching and kicking, sufficient breathing, and a proper mental state throughout.
Members will pair up. One will hold pads (thick protective cushions wrapped around their arms), the other will wear 14-16 oz gloves (provided by the gym or you can bring your own). Here students will train the techniques taught in the technical training phase on pads held by their partners.
Stretching and breathing drills to finish off.
